Objectives of the Philipp Lahm Foundation

The Philipp Lahm Foundation is dedicated to promoting projects and initiatives that see sport as a sustainable instrument to raise levels of education among children and young people.

The foundation gives support to projects in Germany and in Africa – specifically in South Africa - that develop the sports skills of children and young people, at the same time instilling positive sporting values and following educational objectives.

In Germany the focus is on sustainable projects which offer qualified sports training to children and young people from disadvantaged family backgrounds, linking sport to educational activities. These projects share the following aims:

•    young people discover and develop their individual skills and abilities

•    children and teenagers improve their performance at school

•    the projects awaken young people’s interest in education and training

•    young people are introduced to the whole range of available educational opportunities

In Africa the foundation concentrates on projects which

•    offer sports programmes that build and strengthen social structures

•    use sport as a vehicle for promoting education and vocational training

In addition, the foundation promotes sport projects implementing pragmatic and effective educational programmes that further intercultural communication and increase AIDS awareness.
